Changes to Fab Lab Blackburn Open Access Days
We would like to let you know that we will now be running open access Fab Lab days solely on Saturdays (9am-5pm). This is time where you have free access to creative machinery, expert support, and freely available design software.
Over the course of the last three years we’ve seen a huge amount of engagement between The Making Rooms, diverse communities, and local projects. From our regular Fab Lab users and our startup community, to the businesses we’ve supported and our involvement in The Festival of Making.
Our startup community has now grown from just three startups to ten since 2017, with only 1 studio still available to rent – grab it while you can: https://makingrooms.org/
This year we launched TECH BLACKBURN, a business accelerator program in which we help you start to create a business around a product idea you have. We have just come to the end of our second successful run and are gearing up for the next cohort. Apply today: https://makingrooms.org/
We have also been engaging with more local companies, offering prototyping and design services to help them innovate and grow within their industries.
Due to the continuing increase in demand for these kind of activities which help deliver our Community Interest Company objective of supporting local entrepreneurs and business startups, we have come to the point we knew we would reach where we must reduce our open access Fab Lab days from two days a week to one.
This will help us to continue to support local people in progressing from casual Fab Lab users to budding entrepreneurs and our doors are always open during the week to discuss how we might help you to do this.
